Assurance of Learning (AOL) is a student centered, systematic and continuous improvement process.
To achieve continuous improvement, a lean AOL process includes, among other things:
-
Measuring- What the student learned? Our AOL process is based on a course embedded measurement, an exercise designed by professors, experts on each discipline, we measure a specific Learning Objectives (LO’s) and competencies aligned with those LO’s
-
Gathering and analyzing data- derived from the exercise, comparing against benchmark. School of Business (Facultad de Administración de Empresas, FAE) benchmark is 75% of undergraduate students getting 75% or more on exercise and 80% of graduate students getting 80% or more on exercise.
-
Proposing transformative actions (improvements)- based on data; student centered and to advance their learning. Transformative actions surge from learning community interaction its different constituents: internal (professors, students, administrative) and external (alumni, employers, etc.)
-
Implementing transformative actions (improvements)- and measure again, revise and compare results.
